What happens in the Sunday meeting?

We spend about an hour singing, praying, reading the Bible and learning more through a (roughly) 20 minute talk. Afterwards there is time to catch up over tea, coffee and home-baking.

Most folk arrive 5-10 minutes early but it’s also fine to drop in at the last minute.

Come dressed however you like and feel free to participate or just listen in.

I’m new…what do I need to know?

When should I arrive?

Most people arrive 5-10 minutes before the meeting begins but the building is normally open 20 minutes before and it’s fine to arrive at any time. There will be someone on duty at the door who will welcome you and might ask whether you’re visiting – this is just because we love visitors! Another helper will give you a Bible and a blue Psalm book along with an information sheet.

What will happen?

The meeting is normally led by our minister Sean, with contributions from other church members. There will be some singing, prayers, news (called intimations) and a reading from the Bible. Ater this the kids go out to their Sunday Club. Then there is a Bible talk lasting approximately 20 minutes where we learn more about what the Bible says and how we might apply this to our lives. The meeting finishes with singing and prayer and we go into the foyer for refreshments.

What about kids?

Our meetings are for all ages, but we appreciate that children sometimes prefer to learn in a more active way. Our Sunday Club is divided into two age groups, 5-11 and 12-15, with age-appropriate Bible teaching and activities. If you’re visiting with children please speak to the person on the door if you would like your kids to take part in Sunday Club. If you prefer, they can sit with you through the whole meeting (and we really don’t mind if they make some noise!).

Is anything expected of me?

During the meeting we sing together from the blue Psalm book and we open the Bible to follow the reading as it is read aloud. You’re welcome to join in or just listen in. At the end of the meeting we have tea, coffee and home-baking together, and as a visitor you’ll be welcomed to stay but this is totally up to you.

Do I have to give money?

No! All of our meetings are free to attend. Our staff and buildings are funded by donations from church members and they put their contributions in a collection basket available at the beginning and end of the meeting. If you’re visiting, you’re welcome to give a donation but there is no pressure to do so and no-one is watching to see whether you will.

Can I leave if I want to?

Of course. People sometimes do need to come or go during the meeting. If you do need to leave, please be aware that our Sunday club kids may be in the foyer doing activities.

What should I wear?

Whatever you feel comfortable in. Most people wear casual clothing and some like to dress a bit smarter but there is no dress code.
